Choosing Your Overdraft Settings
At USECU, you have the option of covering overdrafts that exceed your available balance with funds from one of your other USECU accounts.
- Credit Card and Line of Credit. There are no overdraft fees when linking these loan accounts, although interest is charged on the amount of your overdraft.
- Savings Account. Link your checking to any of your USECU savings accounts to pay items with a $10 fee per overdraft, subject to a maximum of six electronic savings withdrawals per month.
Courtesy Pay: An Additional Safety Net
In addition to overdraft transfer options listed above, we also offer Courtesy Pay, which minimizes the inconvenience and cost associated with overages.
While the fee is higher for this type of protection, it helps you avoid the inconvenience and expense of merchant returned check fees. With Courtesy Pay, your account will be taken negative (up to the applicable limit) to pay items including checks, electronic debits/ACH, ATM withdrawals and Debit Card transactions.
Opt In Required: To elect Courtesy Pay coverage for Debit and ATM transactions: Login to Online Banking, click the Secure Forms link and select the Overdraft Election Form. If you don't opt in for this coverage, ATM and Debit transactions will be declined when you don't have enough money in your checking or linked account.
Some restrictions apply. See the Schedule of Fees and Charges for information about fees associated with overdraft transfers and Courtesy Pay services. Refer to the Deposit Account & Services Agreement for more information about terms, conditions, and limits.
