Before You Travel

Before traveling to foreign countries, it is a great time to make sure your finances are in order. When there is an unusual amount of fraud occurring in a foreign country, USE Credit Union sometimes blocks transactions from that country, so you may want to consider the following tips before you go.

Here are a few tips that will help you have a smooth trip:

  • Fill out the Travel Notification Form under "Secure Forms" in Online Banking. This is the easiest way to notify USE of your travels. Not registered for Online Banking? Enroll now.

  • Call USE Credit Union - (866) USE-4-YOU (873-4968) - to notify them of your travel plans. If you provide us with your travel dates, destinations, and which cards you will be taking, we can ensure you have full access to your accounts while you are gone.

  • Be aware of the 1% currency conversion fee that MasterCard charges when you use your debit or credit card.

  • Many foreign banks do not allow ATM transactions to savings accounts. It would be wise to move what money you think you'll need to your checking account.

  • If you do happen to lose your debit or credit card, please keep the following information handy, so we can block the card for you:
    • USE Credit Union Card Services:
      (866) USE-4-YOU (873-4968) during regular business hours
    • MasterCard:
After hours, on weekends, or on holidays:
      (800) 528-2273
      International: (812) 647-9794 (call collect)

USE Credit Union is here to help, and we want to help you take the necessary steps to ensure your funds are available as you travel. Just give us a call!
