Merchant Data Breaches

Well-known and smaller merchants continue to be in the news when they experience a payment card security breach, sometimes affecting millions of consumer debit and credit cards, and sometimes a much smaller group of local cardholders. When breaches occur, USECU works closely with MasterCard® and our payment processor to quickly and efficiently identify any impacted accounts.

Protecting You From Fraud
What happens if we suspect your card has been compromised due to a breach? Simple. We’ll notify you immediately and issue a replacement card to you at no cost. If you receive a letter from us indicating your card is being reissued, the card will then arrive a few days later in the mail. Just as important is the peace of mind provided by your USECU payment card. Our Zero-Fraud Liability feature means you’re never responsible for any unauthorized charges that are reported in a timely manner.

Be Proactive and Monitor Your Accounts
We recommend monitoring your accounts and account transactions on a frequent basis. If you’re not using Online Banking, navigate to the “E-Services” tab and enroll today. If you spot any suspicious transactions on your USECU card, please contact us immediately at 866.873.4968, Option 4.
