Activating A New Or Replacement Card

There are lots of reasons you may be the proud owner of a new piece of plastic. Either you opened a new account or we’ve sent you an updated card to replace one that’s expiring. Debit and Credit Cards can also be replaced more frequently because of a card compromise or security breach that has occurred at a merchant you patronized, either in person or online.

Take Action When Your Card Arrives
Getting a new or replacement card requires some action on your part. Taking these steps will help ensure your new card is activated properly and ready for you to use. Here’s what to do when your card arrives.

  • Activate it immediately. Your new or replacement USECU credit or debit card can be activated by calling 877.723.5999 and following the prompts. You can also activate your card by conducting a PIN-based transaction at any ATM or a merchant point-of-sale terminal. If for some reason these methods don’t work, please call 866.873.4968, option 4, or visit any USECU branch.
  • Update your automatic payment information. If you received a replacement card, be sure to update any merchants, utilities or other payees that receive automatic payments from your account (don’t forget services like iTunes®, GoogleTM, or Amazon. This will prevent an interruption in future payments and potential late payment charges.
  • Destroy your old card. Cut up your old card as soon as your new card is activated and working properly.
